Reduce Fat with CoolSculpting
Non-Surgical Body Sculpting Treatment

Ever wonder why that stubborn pocket of fat on your belly, butt, or arms never seems to go away? Have you tried all kinds of fat burning diets and exercises, and even though everything else looks great, you still have a belly or other flabby areas you just can’t seem to get rid of? Sometimes, despite our best efforts to adopt great eating habits and exercises to burn away our body fat, a little bad luck in the genetic lottery makes fat removal in targeted areas seem impossible. CoolSculpting, a trademarked name for a process called cryolipolysis, may be the missing ingredient in your otherwise healthy lifestyle to finally get those flawless abs, arms, legs, or buttocks you’ve always wanted.

CoolSculpting is one of the most popular treatments we offer to reduce unwanted fat. It’s non-invasive, doesn’t require any surgery, and appointments are convenient and quick. Hormones, gender, genes, and age all play a critical role in the way your body stores fat. We all have “trouble areas” that are typically the last places we lose body fat and are also the source of some of our biggest insecurities. If it seems like you’re chasing your tail in your efforts to burn fat off your trouble areas, try freezing it with CoolSculpting body contouring treatments.

CoolSculpting can be applied to various areas of the body, and many patients experience better results with a treatment plan designed around their lifestyle and overall goals. If you’re ready to learn more about how CoolSculpting can help push you over the finish line to that perfect tummy, slim legs, or trim arms, please contact Desert Med Aesthetics in Palm Desert, CA to schedule a CoolSculpting consultation. How Can CoolSculpting Help Reduce Body Fat?

CoolSculpting is a trademarked cryolipolysis treatment. Cryolipolysis is the process of safely cooling targeted areas of the body to temperatures well below normal body temperature and sometimes below freezing. During the treatment, we target specific areas of the body with a handheld device at precise temperatures and for precise lengths of time. This process allows us to avoid damaging the surface of the skin while cooling fat cells to a degree that triggers a metabolic process that causes them to die and be flushed from the body naturally. It works especially well on areas where fat deposits are visible such as love handles and the belly.

Interestingly, the history and study of cryolipolysis began at Harvard University with kids eating popsicles. Scientists Dieter Manstein, MD and R. Rox Anderson, MD noticed some young children who ate popsicles had more defined dimples in their cheeks. This led them to study how cold could be used to target certain types of cells—namely, fat cells—without damaging healthy skin tissue, thus establishing the science on which CoolSculpting is based.

CoolSculpting is the only cryolipolysis treatment to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat 9 areas where stubborn body fat accumulates, including the:

  • Abdomen
  • Flanks (also called love handles or a muffin top)
  • Double chin (submental fat)
  • Inner highs
  • Outer thighs
  • Upper arms
  • Back
  • Buttocks
  • Jaw (submandibular region)

Unlike many fad treatments that promise long-lasting fat reduction in targeted areas, more than 100 studies have been published backing CoolSculpting’s effectiveness and safety. Most people make great candidates for CoolSculpting, but some patients with health conditions affected by cold temperatures such as cryoglobulinemia, cold urticaris, and paroxysmal cold hemoglobulinuria should not have the CoolSculpting treatment. During your CoolSculpting consultation, we’ll cover your medical history and ensure there are no contraindications.

What Are the Benefits of CoolSculpting

Because CoolSculpting actually causes fat cells to die and metabolize naturally, in a process called lipolysis, the results are long term and lasting. Before body contouring treatments such as CoolSculpting existed, the only option with long-lasting results for most people was surgical removal of body fat, which carries its own set of risks and may be more of a commitment than some are willing to take on to remove a little extra belly flab. CoolSculpting removes the risk of surgery and uses controlled temperatures to permanently remove body fat safely and effectively.

There’s also a lot of market data that emphasizes how many people are satisfied with the treatment. More than 80% of people who have tried it would recommend it to a friend, and the average results are somewhere between a 20%-80% reduction of fat following a single CoolSculpting treatment.

CoolSculpting is much more convenient than surgery or liposuction. Unlike more invasive body contouring surgeries, CoolSculpting treatments only last about 1-3 hours. Sometimes we can treat areas in 35-45 minutes depending on the amount of body fat accumulated.

CoolSculpting causes very little discomfort. There’s usually a powerful chilling feeling for a few minutes, then you’ll likely only feel a slight tingle for the rest of the treatment. During appointments, many patients read a book or play on a tablet—some even enjoy a bit of downtime in an otherwise busy day and take a nap!

Is There Any Downtime After CoolSculpting?

Because it’s non-invasive and requires no incisions, there’s no downtime for most patients after a CoolSculpting session. In fact, most patients go right back to work immediately or the next day. After the treatment, you may experience some mild and temporary redness, bruising, tenderness, or extra sensitivity in the targeted treatment areas.

Once you’re cleared for treatment, here’s what to expect:

We perform all CoolSculpting treatments in a patient room at our beautiful facility. Plan on spending about an hour with us, although some areas can be treated in as little as 35 minutes.

It takes time for the cooling pads to sufficiently freeze fat cells. Kick back and relax. Patients are welcome to read a book, take a nap, or use electronic devices during their treatment. At first, you’ll feel intense cold, but usually only for a few minutes. You may also feel a pulling or tingling sensation during treatment.

After your appointment, you can return to your regular activities immediately. Many of our patients head right back to work; others return the very next day. Some common side effects after treatment include redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, and skin sensitivity. These are usually mild and temporary. There are no activity restrictions after treatment.

After treatment, your body will begin to eliminate treated fat cells. Many patients see initial results in about three Your body will continue to eliminate fat for up to four to six months, with the most dramatic results appearing about two months post-treatment.

CoolSculpting works. Patients often experience fat loss of about 20% in the treated area with a single treatment. Only one treatment is needed for stunning results if patients are very close to their ideal weight, but if you need an additional fat loss, come back for a second treatment in a few months.

This treatment permanently eliminates fat cells. Since fat cells don’t regenerate, this creates a lasting reduction of the bulge in the treatment area. You can still gain weight after treatment; however, you will notice your body remains proportionate – areas treated will remain more sculpted. No lifestyle changes are necessary, but many patients feel more motivated to take care of their body through diet and exercise.

How Much Does CoolSculpting Cost?

There’s no one-size-fits-all cost estimate for CoolSculpting, but the national average is about $2,000-$4,000. The cost of your CoolSculpting treatment plan will be determined by the overall size of the area you’d like treated and the amount of body fat accumulated that will need to be removed.
