RF Microneedling for Skin Tightening & Tissue Remodeling

Collagen induction therapy through RF microneedling is a safe, minimally invasive, and cost-effective treatment for acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, stretch marks, and improvements to the skin’s overall tone and texture. Microneedling treatments combined with radiofrequency waves can penetrate the skin more effectively than IPL or lasers. Additionally, laser therapy cannot be used on darker skin tones because the light poses the risk of stealing skin pigmentation and causing discoloration. RF microneedling treatments are safe and effective, no matter the skin tone.

Desert Med Aesthetics offers innovative RF skin treatment designed as an addition to the EndymedPRO™ system, called the Intensif® Fractional Microneedling system.

This type of microneedling technology is perfect for anyone seeking to rejuvenate or improve the appearance of their skin with a non-invasive treatment and minimal downtime. It can also be used as a maintenance treatment to encourage glowing skin. Microneedling procedures create thousands of micro-channels in the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin. These temporary micro-wounds stimulate the body’s natural healing system, generating new collagen and elastin production. It has also been proven to improve skin thickness and elasticity.

What Are the Benefits of Intensif® RF Microneedling?

Intensif® is a cutting-edge microneedling technology that uses radiofrequency to deliver incomparable results compared to traditional microneedling treatments. Indian Wells patients with the following areas of concern can benefit from RF Microneedling sessions:

  • Acne Scars—The heat from the RF technology helps heal acne scars and reduce redness or texture that often follows an acne flare-up.
  • Sagging Skin—The Intensif® technology is known for its firming capabilities. The gentle heat from radiofrequency technology triggers the cellular turnover leading to noticeable tightening and firming of sagging skin.
  • Pigmentation—The tiny micro-wounds created during a microneedling session break apart skin discolorations, including hyperpigmentation, redness, rosacea, acne, and age or sunspots.
  • Enlarged Pores—Pores can become enlarged due to age and excess oil or debris that becomes trapped inside of them. RF microneedling will open these pores back up, clear them out, and allow them to heal in a more closed and uniform manner.
  • Stretch Marks—Stretch marks form during instances when the skin becomes stretched, such as weight gain, pregnancy, or puberty. During an Intensif® treatment, the skin is firmed and receives an influx of collagen, reducing the appearance of stretch marks, fine lines, and skin dimpling.

How does the Intensif Micro Skin Needling Work?

EndyMed’s Intensif headpiece works by delivering short pulses of RF energy through an array of 25 sterilized, gold plated micro-needles. The RF energy heats the papillary and reticular dermis, promoting skin improvement according to the treated lesion.

Throughout the course of the Intensif treatment and for months afterwards, the microscopically damaged tissue will be replaced by new, healthy and younger looking tissue. The treated skin will become smoother, tighter and more vital.

As most of the energy is delivered directly into the inner layer of the skin, patients will experience minimal downtime and may resume normal activities immediately after treatment.

What to Expect After an RF Microneedling Session

The Intensif® fractional radiofrequency delivery system targets only small areas of skin at a time. This helps to minimize the risk of side effects and shortens downtime. Immediately after the Intensif® microneedling treatment, your skin will appear slightly sunburnt and feel warm and tighter than usual. These side effects are completely normal, and the redness will begin to fade after a few hours. You may also experience some temporary inflammation, scabbing, or peeling in the treated area.

To help your skin heal during this brief recovery period, ensure that the healing skin is well-hydrated with a moisturizer. Avoid picking, scratching, or exfoliating the skin while it is healing, and never skip applying your sunscreen.

What is the Difference Between Traditional microneedling and RF Microneedling?

While both types of microneedling treatments aim to stimulate the body’s natural healing process, each takes a different approach. Traditional microneedling uses a specialized tool that contains very fine needles. This device is then rolled over the treatment area, create incredibly small wounds in the uppermost skin layers. In contrast, RF microneedling uses a combination of microneedles and radiofrequency to penetrate deep within the skin’s layers. As RF microneedling goes deeper below the skin’s surface, it’s able to tighten skin from within.

Who is a Candidate for RF Microneedling?

Given the depth of penetration capable by RF microneedling, this treatment is an excellent option for a diverse range of issues. At Desert Med Aesthetics, patients have used Intensif to treat problems such as sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, scarring, stretch marks, and skin laxity across the face and body.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The total number of sessions each patient needs varies from person to person. Depending on your skin’s current condition and long-term aesthetic goals, you may need anywhere from three to five total sessions.  We’ll determine the right number of sessions and frequency of treatments to ensure you achieve your goals safely during your consultation with Dr. Cosgrove.

When Will I See the Results?

As the treatment is creating new skin cells from within, it can take several sessions to begin noticing your RF treatment results. Most patients start to see their treatment results around six weeks after their first session and enjoy optimal results around six months after their final session.
